Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on the 19th of January. 19. 1946 to a poor family with 12 kids eventually included, discovered early that she could escape her hardships through a creative mind. The songs she wrote were composed before she could write or read. She got her first guitar when she was 8 and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. In the same year, Gold Band Records was a small independent record label. As a student in high school, she made her name locally but dreamed about having a bigger stage. After graduating from high school in 1964 she immediately moved to Nashville. The first charting record she had with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist to join his syndicated show in the years prior to this. Parton took the job in 1966, joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. In 1974, she quit Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her solo songs like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release. Parton's song, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), hit the top of the. number 1 position after the duo split. For the first time, in 1974.
