Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised in the suburbs of Barcelona She was described as an "atypical pop singer" due to her genre-bending music styles. When she was of thirteen, she fell in an obsession with Spanish folk music. She then studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music. She also performed at weddings and music bars. The album reinvented flamenco by combining it with pop and hip-hop music. The singles "Malamente", and "Pienso in tu Mira" have been a huge hit with the Spanish populace and won the acclaim of all critics. El Mal Querer, who was honored with the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year and is listed in Rolling stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time began her rise into the world music scene. Rosalia is a musician who explored urbano music through her 2019 releases "Con Altura", and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi", was a global hit. Her third studio album Motomami (2022) provided reggaeton with a new experimental sound, breaking away from the previous flamenco-inspired style. The album caught international attention due to its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was subsequently the best reviewed album this year by Metacritic. Rosalia has amassed ten number-one songs in the course of her career in her home country. This is the highest number for an artist hailing from the region. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year awards) Four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been presented to Rosalia. Also, she was awarded two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award, in 2019, for "changing the sound today's mainstream songs with her unique flamenco pop". [18] She also became the first Spanish-singing group to be nominated for the Best New Artist at the Grammys.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the youngest of four children of Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who runs a small metalworking business. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They separated in the year 2019. (23.) Rosalia's older sister Pilar Vila, who was born in 1989, is her stylist. Rosalia showed an interest in performing arts at a young age, especially after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. She began her music education at the Taller de Musics [es]. She completed a six-year program at the academy. She attended classes at the Raval School, then was transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was a solo singer, singing at weddings and in bars with musical music. She was compensated "a just a little over 80 euros" or in exchange for dinner. Rosalia was at the mercy of many underground Spanish artists during that time such as La Zowi and Yung Beef, Kaydy Case, Hinds, Maria Escarmiento, and Kaydy Cain.
